If you soon realize that a company has only been in settling debts for a short time and has a lot of complaints towards them, then you must avoid them.

Over 90% of consumers who end up going into past due status will never find themselves getting summonsed to go to court. But you want to make sure that if it does happen to you that you are not left out to dry. With a debt settlement company if one of their customers gets sued there is not a thing at all they can do for them. It is UPL (unlicensed practice of law) for these companies to either advise or contact the creditor that is trying to sue their client. Now if that same person was the client of a law firm assisting them to settle their bills the legislation is different.
